Find the TV ad - win free beer for a year

By Pint Sized on Mar 10, 08 05:00 AM in Culture

Not from me I'm afraid. But in recent news, the head of the Highgate Brewery, which has recently started making the famous and sadly-missed Davenports beer again is offering free beer for a year to anyone who can track down a copy of the memorable "Beer at home means Davenports" television advert.

So get searching through the old VHS collection. And I'll be offering a free pint* to whoever can come up with the best suggestion for their favourite television beer advert. Here's one to get the ball rolling...

Adverts for beer in the UK tend to bring out the best at the ad agencies in terms of humour and creativity, and have brought us some of the most memorable clips on TV.

So what's your favourite?

  • The Budweiser frogs?

  • The Guinness surfers?

  • Or do Carlsberg make possibly the best ads in the world...

*probably

It's got to be Peter Kay's john smith's ads!
Budweisers whassup was the most annoying.

Lovelovelove that Carling Advert. I remember that it used to be one of the commercials on the battered old VHS of Jaws 3, that me and my brother watched at least 10 billion times when we were wee. From a very young age, this advert moulded onto my subconscious that 'real men must drink Carling Black Label'.
I'm a big fan of your writing, 'Pint Sized', keep them coming... "In a straight glass, with a good head".

Cheers for the support Nikki, I'll be blogging LIVE from the pub this afternoon if all goes well, it's a hard life.

I was going to say something about Jaws 3 but after a quick google it turns out it was Jaws 4: The Revenge I was thinking of.

Re: "In a straight glass, with a good head", if I can translate that to Latin, perfect motto for my coat of arms when the KBE turns up
