Sex Sells.

We know that these sex tapes exist, from Pamela Anderson to Abi Titmuss, Jordan to Paris Hilton, they have all had very 'personal and private' property stolen or leaked by someone they thought they could trust or love. There are the denials and then the admissions followed by column inches of how betrayed and violated they feel, followed by more column inches and some form of glossy photo shoot of how they will work through the pain and move forward with their careers.

Now, whatever two or more consenting adults do in the privacy of their own homes is completely up to them, but don't you find it a little bit strange that these tapes or rather candid pictures surface just when it is of most benefit to the person featured.
Think about it, who had heard of Paris Hilton on this side of the Atlantic before her now infamous sex tape came out, which coincidentally came out just before she launched a television series on MTV, Abi Titmuss went from being a wannabe presenter, nurse and girlfriend of a shamed TV presenter to a glamour model with a top selling calendar and a stuttering career as a television presenter and B list celebrity. Kim Kardasian may not be as well know in the UK but is the daughter of a multi millionaire and one of the Hollywood party 'A' list, who just happened to feature in a sex tape with an singer on the eve of the premiere of her fly on the wall MTV series and her photo shoot for Playboy magazine.

There are questions that come to mind, how far are people willing to go in the pursuit of self-promotion? How much truth is blended with fiction for the sake of a few mentions in the press, how carefully are these things stage-managed by agents and other interested parties in the pursuit of ratings or publicity, promotion of a movie, TV series or product, importantly how do you put a price on the most intimate of moments and then live with the consequences of your actions, because once the footage is out there it cannot be taken back, what has been undressed cannot be redressed.
