Who's who

I don't take this blogging thing too seriously - that's part of its attraction, unlike the 24/7 sweat of the last staff job I had, which was great, but extremely hard graft and which left the life-work balance tipping very much one way ... which translates as your work becomes your life (and then you die ... prematurely).

But serious or not, I must own up to waiting to see what my old friend/colleague Grovesy - aka Paul Groves, aka Shouty Villager (?), aka a certain model maker (?) - has to say about Dr Who developments. I trust his instincts, even if he has an unhealthy obsession with The Apprentice - we all have weak spots - and he is a serious cyclist, which has got to be weighed in his favour against the Sugar rush.

Fact is, I don't really know how I feel about building up to a two-part series finale with every companion and every person from every Who spin-off franchise turning up. Rumours are that the Daleks and Davros are set for the showdown of showdowns and, of course, Birmingham's favourite panto hero, John Barrowman.

I've been surprised (favourably) by the last couple of episodes, although I still feel the whole concept is skewed horribly by the fact that it all revolves around the Earth - and what happened to The Master?

I was surprised to see that John Slimm, who revived the famous villain, is being touted as a possible eleventh Doctor (or is that all to do with a body-swap plot with Tennant?). I think Mr Tennant is with us for at least another series, but I must say I like another idea being touted that Robert Carlyle is a possible replacement. Daniel Radcliffe has also been mentioned, but I think that's way off. I'd prefer Rupert Grint or, best of all, Emily Watson ... in my dreams.

There's rumours of Lily Allen becoming a companion and the (now red) Daleks returning with an Empress - once an Earth Prime Minister.

Saturday night's Turn Left episode, incidentally, was watched by over a third of the people who had the TV on at that point - 35 per cent of viewers or seven million people. Some of them, apparently, were not even hiding behind the sofa.

My picture, by the way, is a bit of a spoiler the the season finale. Enjoy ...

I'm disappointed at the return of the Daleks as I'd hoped for something a bit more imaginative for the two-part series finale - especially as it will be Russell T's last.

I've all but given up on this series, far too crammed full of spoilers, red herrings and the misuse of Donna. Some were raving about last night's Donna-fuelled adventure, but I thought it was quite lame and was half-expecting a sixth-form-style "...she woke up and it was all a dream" ending.

I'm hoping it will come back with a bang next series with the new fella in charge and new Doctor. But if Lily Allen is involved, I'll be switching off.

Not that any of this matters, obviously.

(Apologies if this repeats, gremlins at the Post's end mean I'm not sure if it got through first time around).

PS: No model-making alter ego over by here, maybe he will be the next Time Lord...

I have obtained particular pieces of information relating to the acronym WHO meaning White Honorary Occultist. You should devote a topic on the reasoning behind the name WHO.

Otto - I fear you may have to enlighten us yourself. The people who run this paper may not be in a position to print the REAL truth.
