Rick Wright RIP
i just heard that rick wright, pink floyd's keyboard player has died. He fought a short battle with cancer. i'm deeply saddened.

He was the quiet one, the dandy, more beautiful than Syd Barrett in the band's earliest publicity pictures.
His were the oh-so-English Farfisa lines that gave Piper At The Gates of Dawn its eternal whimsy.
Never the flash keyboard wizard, you wouldn't catch this Rick in a cape. He supplied texture to Pink Floyd's vast canvas instead of grand-standing. For that alone he would influence every single ambient house band.
I believe that Rick's finest recorded moment you have to hear the four minutes of Any Colour You Like, the jam that leads out of Us and Them on Dark Side of the Moon.
Listen! He's having a ball.
He was once kicked out of the band by Roger Waters and then re-hired as a session musician but shrugged off the indignity.
While David Gilmour and Roger Waters frowned at each other at Live-8, Rick looked like he was having the time of his life.
Pink Floyd are my favourite band, but only from 1969 to 1974. For these five years alone, Rick, I salute you.
