'Alright, sunshine?

By Roshan Doug on May 6, 08 08:17 AM in

Weather isn't quite news - I'm aware of that, so hold your horses before you start complaining - but after such a horrid, dismal spring, this morning's sunshine peeping through the heavens has got to be worth touching upon - surely.

Well, I, for one, am compelled to mention it. I'm drawn to it like a magnet to a pin especially as, I know, no one is else is likely to cover it because, well, it's not news.

Well, maybe not but...

Here I'm just sitting in my study staring at the glorious bright greenery in my garden. There is something almost divine, almost magical about this moment as if I'm touching something close to contentment.

It's just an extraordinary time - not even 8am as I write this. And I can't help feeling a sense of promise or hope in the air.

Outside it's just so peaceful only the intermittent sound of the birds piercing the silence, giving the air a sense of serenity and tranquillity.

It's just a perfect English summer's day- not uncomfortably hot, not uncomfortably cold. Just perfect...

With the disaster in Burma this weekend where thousands of people have perished - and hundreds of thosands who have been left without homes - perhaps we should count out blessings and consider how fortunate we are to experience such godly beauty. And perhaps we can also spare a thought for those Burmese whose sense of home and family has been shaken to smithereens.

But here, today - or for the moment at least - it's perfection personified where a prayer will utter itself automatically. Enjoy and make the most of it!

Hello Roshan.I read your piece in the paper this morning. I agree totally...'Got me thinking about culture and what it is... you're right. We hardly ever had any cultural trips back in 70s but we knew and appreciated culture. Something which youngsters today know very little about despite the millions the gov. is throwing at schools. waste of money. let's get back to the basics!

I enjoy your pieces - keep it up.

Isn't it amazing how people respond totally differently to something positive? Beautiful piece Roshan and two positive, appreciative comments. Go on try it, be nice.
