Post Office closures - is yours on the list?
The Post Office has announced propsals to close 56 branches in the West Midlands.
Twenty-six branches in Birmingham will be cut, three in Solihull and one in Meriden. Branch cuts in Coventry and Warwickshire will bring the number to 51.
Another five in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, will be replaced by "outreach" services, such as a mobile post office with limited opening hours.
Post Office Ltd says the closures are needed because of falling customer numbers and the increasing use of the internet to access services like television licences and car tax renewal.
Is your Post Office on the list? Do you have any pictures or information you think we need to add to our map? If so, please get in touch in the comments box, by emailing joanna.geary@birminghampost.net or by calling 0121 234 5188.

Great use of a blog, Jo - and graphic brings home the full horror of the plan ... smacks a bit of community-conscious journalism - do I feel a campaign coming on?
It's quite a pretty little pattern, isn't it? Makes me suspect the closures aren't being done on the basis of usage or demographics (as a predictor of future usage). Instead the closures look to be based on geography, so that Post Office Ltd can says even after the closures, nobody is further than X from a post office. True, I guess, but not necessarily helpful.
It might be useful to show the Post Offices that are not closing so people can get a bit of perspective. Those that are closing tend to be really close to other ones.
We have a lot of Post Offices in Birmingham.
MPs should know and if they don't they should, that they can do nothing about the closure of post offices.
The real reason post offices are closing is nothing to do with our provincial government in Westminster but is a directive from our supreme government in Brussels, as follows.
In a letter dated November 28, 2007, from EU Commissioner Neeli Kroes to Foreign
Secretary David Milliband about a state aid notification of July 5, 2007.
Section 11 states that "The transformation programme will involve Post Offices Ltd
reducing its post office network by 2,500 branches'. On that basis the UK Government
received approval from our supreme government in Brussels to continue subsidizing the rest of the network
Interesting point Daz. When I entered my postcode into the branch locator I found Post Offices close to home that I didn't even know existed.
If there's a campaign coming we should be careful to consider that we in the online community are the ones who print our own stamps, pay for car tax, TV licence etc etc online, so we're hardly typical. Or are we???
