Liam Byrne's presentation to Cabinet

By Joanna Geary on Sep 8, 08 06:07 PM in Politics

Liam Byrne, MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill and Minister for the West Midlands, delivered a presentation to the Cabinet when it met in Birmingham's International Convention Centre today.

Above are the slides form his presentation.

He called for more freedoms for regions such as the West Midlands to make their own decisions, rather than being dictated to by London.

And he demanded less delay and faster decision-making, with more co-operation between civil servants in London, local authorities and regional agencies such as Advantage West Midlands.

There is no support for regional governance or regional decision making amongst the electorate. Liam Byrne has no mandate to talk on behalf of the whole West Midlands euroregion.

The people of England do not want regional assembly, regional development agencies, regional government offices, regional quangos and most definitely no regional ministers.

Get a proper job Mr Byrne.

Hi my name is Carl and i have written and produced a song called people need to stop knife crime. The song is aimed at reducing knife crime across Birmingham and gives parents, teachers and the general public an insight into why people commit knife crime and offers the youth a way out. The CD is on sale at Hard to find records .com and Swordfish Records Temple street Birmingham city centre. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL IF YOUR COMPANY COULD SHOW AN INTEREST AND SUPPORT THE CAUSE. I would like to sell the CD from community centers, schools and youth centers AND NEED SOME PR to get the ball rolling. Thanks from Carl Martin 07504148064 I would be good if you could help me get me to raise awareness about knife crime and promote the song and get me some performance time. I have also made other material that may be of an interest to you as it is hot UK HIP-HOP AND A JUNGLE REMIX.
