MPs queue up to see who is most outraged by Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand

By Jonathan Walker on Oct 29, 08 01:42 PM in Politics

There's an arms race in the House of Commons to see who can condemn Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand the loudest.

A group of 13 MPs including Lynne Jones (Lab Selly Oak) signed a Commons motion describing the pair as "base and vulgar".

This wasn't quite enough for another MP, who put forward an amendment suggesting the words "puerile, predictable" should be added.

He also suggested "their contracts should be terminated forthwith."

Finally, another MP wants the motion amended to include a reference to their "gross professional misconduct".

Jonathan, it's f...... ridiculous, and I am using the f word advisedly here. Batten down the hatches, we have a national crisis on our hands!

If only they'd phoned MY grandfather, even my father, how very differently the happy news would have been received.

Really dissapointed my local MP, the normally sensible and level headed Lynne Jones is getting involved in this pathetic witch hunt. What Brand and Ross did was stupid and pathetic, but is this reaction really justified? They apologised and Sachs was happy with the apology. Is that not enough? (although yes, the BBC editor who let it air should, and has quit over the matter) Why are our MPs wasting time name-calling and such? Shouldn't they be trying to keep our economy stable, doing something useful? The media and our so called political elite have behaved in a truly sad and pathetic manner (surprise, surprise). Most people just don't really care about the whole thing as it's not exactly a big deal, especially during times like these when we all have much bigger things to worry about. Some perspective please!
