Saturday Night

What can I say about Saturday evening at conference? With delegates pouring in from all over the country, hosting conference in Birmingham is a great opportunity for a spot of local fund-raising. Gareth Compton, who is the freshly elected Chairman of Erdington Conservatives isn't one to miss a chance to cash in and organised a highly profitable drinks and canapes event for Saturday evening at Mechu on Summer Row.
From there we headed to Bar Risa - inevitably not for the last time this conference - for a karaoke party hosted by Tory Bear aka Harry Cole and Young Briton's Foundation - affectionately known as the Madrassa of Conservative thinking in the UK.
However, the real movers and shakers are found in the Hyatt Hotel bar and we arrived to find Andrew Pierce of the Daily Mail, who is well known for his ascerbic debating skills on the Sky Papers review. In the process of sharing a bit of gossip with Alistair Thompson, the Conservative candidate for West Bromwich East, I happened across the famous Philip Blond whose Respublica think-tank is ubiquitous during this conference. Known as the Red Tory, he is seen as the intellectual pioneer of the Big Society and the localism agenda.
Here's a picture of your author, Praguetory and Red Tory together.
