Another Positive Blog Alert

Well, its been a great few days to be a Baggie with first the players, then the manager and finally the chairman giving us something to be happy about. At a time when its all doom and gloom elsewhere on the West Mids football scene, its a time for smiles all round for us Baggies.

After a poor run, it was great to get back to winning ways on Saturday. It wasn't a great performance by any means but never mind the quality, at this stage of the season its all about points. The 3 points will mean another season in the land of money and further strong finance coming our way in our attempts to build slowly but surely.

There were some good performances that stood out. Fortune continued to impress, this time adding a goal to his intelligent hold up play. Dorrans showed flashes of what we know he has, but has been sadly missing for too long and Ben Foster again showed that he has to be our number one transfer this summer. Not since Houlty was breaking clean sheets records have we had a keeper that we can rely upon.

Then we had further good news, with the manager giving his clearest indication yet that he will stop with us if the Twitcher doesn't get the England job. Roy may have his faults but do we really want to lose him this summer? Looking around at possible replacements fills me with dread and I feel that another season or two with Roy fits in with the steady but sure progress we are making.

Then, if the feelgood factor wasn't strong enough, we announce fantastic season ticket deals for next season. With money so tight, what a superb move by the club to cut prices with the emphasis on youth and our future following. The club was criticised for the increases they made last season, so its only right that we give the chairman massive credit for the announcement. If we are to extend the capacity as planned, we have to make sure we fill those new seats. Norwich have shown for years what good pricing can do for gates. Much better to have cheaper seats and sell outs than expensive ones that remain empty. The direct debit option is also a master stroke. A big outlay In May and June is a massive stretch for people so this will be a godsend for families.

So, all in all, a great few days. I talked about momentum being important going into the summer and the past week has given us a huge push in the right direction. All we need now is to finish top Midlands club, beat the Villa and Liverpool and sign up Roy and we can plan strongly for next seasons adventure during the summer. All are possible.
